Haiti Service Project: NBA All-Star Game & Jay-Z Tour Stop Tickets
In light of the tragic earthquake and resulting and ongoing devastation in Haiti, I’ve decided to give up my personal tickets for the 2010 NBA All-Star game and tickets to the Jay-Z’s Blueprint 3 tour stop in Houston to help raise money.
I’ve created the website TicketsForHaiti.com, which will host the relief effort. The site is linked to two separate eBay auctions for each set of tickets. Proceeds from the two sets of tickets will be donated to two of the various relief organizations.
The All-Star game package includes two tickets to the game on February 14th at the Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas, hotel accommodations, motor-coach transportation to the game, stadium tour, photo opportunities and NBA souvenirs. The Jay-Z package includes two tickets to the Blueprint 3 tour stop on February 22nd at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.
Package details and other specifics can be found at TicketsForHaiti.com.
On The Go: B.O.B. aka Bobby Ray

I recently had the opportunity to photo document B.O.B. (aka Bobby Ray) while on his Austin tour stop with Asher Roth, Kid Cud. Normally for a project like this, I would include more behind the scene images, however B.O.B.’s set was so energetic I had to share extra performance images.
I have witnessed a number of B.O.B.’s shows and while each one has been impressive, they keep getting better. One word I would use to accurately describe a performance is passionate.

SXSW 2009 Hip-Hop Photo Project

I recently had to opportunity to take part in the 2009 South by South West music festival. SXSW is one of the largest music festivals in the world. Thousands of artists, groups and supporters of various music types migrate to Austin each spring to take part. The Hip-Hop aspect of the 2009 festival was the largest its ever been. Below is a link to photo documentation of some of the Hip-Hop happenings that took place as seen by myself.
Featured artists for this project include Bun B, B.O.B. aka Bobby Ray, Mistah Fab, Big Boi, Janell Monae, Balance and Asher Roth.

Interview with An Art Producer’s Perspective

I was recently interviewed by Caitlin Tierney for her site, An Art Producer’s Perspective. Caitlin had a few questions regarding my Destiny by Design project. As stated on her bio, “Caitlin is an art buyer/art producer with experience on several accounts including VW, Celebrity Cruises, McDonald’s, New Balance, and Merrill Lynch. She is obsessed with photography and advertising.”

Project: ACL / Bavu Blakes

I recently had the opportunity to complete my latest photo project. This project involved documenting a day in the life of Austin MC, Bavu Blakes. This wasn’t just any day, as I was able to shadow Bavu the day of his Austin City Limits debut performance.
For those who may not know, Austin City Limts (ACL), is another one of Austin’s big annual music festivals and Bavu Blakes is also one of Austin’s top hip-hop artists. I met with Bavu around 8 AM, and from then on began capturing images. While Hip-Hop at ACL is a fairly big deal, having local Hip-Hop talent on the lineup shows how much of an impact Bavu has had on the music scene. Austin’s mayor, Will Wynn, provided Bavu’s introduction. He was also sure to let everyone know that he is a Bavu supporter.
